I am a potter and an artist. I design and make a range of high fired stoneware ceramics, I throw on a wheel and handbuild, mainly using slabs. My ceramics are functional. I love colour and combinations of colour within simple designs. I also love working on glazes and balancing all the different elements of the ceramic process.
I create artwork in other media, on paper, sketching in print and paint and in fused glass.
I was born in Belfast and I now live on the north coast of Northern Ireland where I have a studio and a retail outlet in Bushmills, within The Designerie.
In this northern edge of Northern Ireland there are a multitude of beaches, forests, bogland and coastal areas which feed the imagination.
Natural texture, heathers, seaweed, trees, grasses and volcanic rock, the natural environment inspires lots of ideas. Local landscapes and seascapes can be stunning at any time of the year, colours and light change constantly.
I studied for a degree in Ceramics/ Three Dimensional Design at Bath Academy of Art and I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Ceramics from The Glasgow School of Art. Over the years, between Northern Ireland and Scotland, I also have a portfolio of artwork for public areas and some large scale commissions.
